Check-in and security

Airports are generally filled with many people rushing to check in for their flight, and this can make locating our check-in counters seem quite difficult. When you’re running late or a little lost, finding your way through the crowds can be stressful. Always look out for our orange signposted Mango check-in counters which can be found in the Domestic Departures Terminal.

CHECK-IN AND GUEST INFORMATION

Mango Guests can check in via the check-in counters, Mango's mobi-app or our online check-in.

The check-in counters can be found in the Domestic Departure Terminal. The recommended check-in time is two (2) hours prior to departure. Check-in closes 40 minutes prior to departure. Guests who arrive after this time will need to make alternative travel arrangements.

The Self-Service check-in counters open 12 hours before departure and close 40 minutes before the scheduled time of departure. Guests can also check in for their flights using online or mobi check-in which opens 24 hours before departure and closes two (2) hours before the scheduled time of departure.

Please note:

  • The boarding gate closes 30 minutes prior to departure
  • Bookings made within 24 hours of departure will not be able to make use of mobi check-in
  • Mobi check-in is not available for flights departing from George and Bloemfontein, and departing to and from Zanzibar. Guests are, however, encouraged to use the Mango check-in counters at these airports.

FLIGHT INFORMATION

To determine whether your Mango flight is on time or any other information regarding your trip, please follow these instructions:

  • Phone 086 72 77 888 for ACSA's automated flight-information service
  • Send an SMS with your flight number to 35007
  • Check ACSA’s online live arrivals and departures feature.

When travelling from Lanseria Airport please note:

  • Flight arrival and departure times are not available from ACSA
  • Mango Plus Guests can make use of the Lanseria Executive Lounge—enquire from your Airport Check-In agent as to the location of the facility
  • Contact 011 367 0300 for all Lanseria Airport queries.

Everybody wants to get away

Please take into consideration that there may be a long queue waiting at the check-in counter. Although Mango staff endeavour to move the queue quickly, we cannot be held responsible for Guests who are late and miss their flight.

Proof of Identification

At check-in it is required that all Guests provide proof of identification in order to receive their boarding pass. Guests may use a valid passport, valid South African ID book or valid South African drivers license as proof of identification. Guests who booked and paid for their flights using a credit card will need to present this card at check-in. If the Guest paid for a group or family using the credit card, only the paying Guest need present the card. In the case of children a birth certificate is considered as valid identification.

SECURITY CHECK POINTS

The adventure has begun and soon you will be in the air on the way to your destination, but you’re not quite in the terminals yet.

After a Mango Guest has been issued with their physical boarding pass he/she will be required to pass through a security check point. The Guest will be asked to follow the below procedure.

  1. Show your boarding pass (the physical or electronic version on your phone) to the security guard
  2. Place your hand luggage onto the X-ray conveyer belt to be scanned
  3. Place the contents of your pockets in the trays provided to be passed through the X-ray machine.

Guests can be happy in the knowledge that the X-ray machine will not damage any electronic equipment.

Please note: It is against the law to take any dangerous items on board an aircraft. The following items will be confiscated if found to be in a Guest’s possession:

  • Knives
  • Firearms or anything representing a firearm, including toys
  • Scissors
  • Or any other objects that could pose a threat to the safety of the crew or fellow passengers.
