Four date night ideas in Cape Town

January 31, 2020

The Month of Love is here! If you’re looking to refresh a tired weekly date night schedule, here are four fun, unique and even eerie date night ideas!

1. Watching the sunset from Table Mountain

A post shared by Di Brown (@roaming_giraffe) on

Imagine ascending Table Mountain with your beloved as the sun lowers on the Mother City.

Treat your partner to a Table Mountain trip before the romantic sunset special ends – Table Mountain Aerial Cableway’s sunset special, through which you can get half-price tickets after 6pm, runs until 29 February 2020. Take a picnic basket and camera and spend quality time with your love on one of the world’s New7Wonders of Nature. Keep an eye on the Table Mountain website for the last cable car down the mountain here

Make sure you bring your South African ID along with you when booking at the ticket office (if you’ve booked online, you will still need to bring your ID along). And our final tip: arrive early enough to allow for queuing at the Lower Cable Station.

2. Chocolate classes with Lindt

Make the next date night decadent with a chocolate class under the watchful eye of Lindt master chocolatiers. Yes please!

Chocolate truffles, fondant pudding, macarons, cupcakes and the ultimate chocolate cake are all on the menu and ready to be made by you and your partner in the chocolate classes. Each item on the menu is made on a different day, and there are different prices per class.

You and your partner will make the chocolate goodies from start to finish, and decorate and box the items. You’ll also receive the recipe to take home!

3. Tunnel tours under Cape Town

Looking to do something different and adventurous on your next date night? Take a guided tour through the underground tunnels that snake their way below the Mother City.

With headlights and torches, you’ll follow a guide under Cape Town and get to see the city from a totally different perspective. You might even hear an eerie sound in the distance – it could just be your mind playing tricks on you in the dark underworld … or not. This tour is definitely not for the faint of heart.

4. Perfect pizza

No time for a long and intimate date night? Why not grab a bite at NY Slice Pizza in one of its various locations in Cape Town? In 2019, NY Slice Pizza was voted one of the top 20 pizzerias in the world on the Big 7 Travel site and has become a staple part of Cape Town’s food scene.

Grab a large pizza and catch up on life with your partner. Alternatively, you could simply sit in silence at the restaurant and people-watch, just being together, eating a delicious meal and relaxing.
