How much should my suitcases weigh? Can kids under 12 travel on their own? Do you need your passport to check in?
We often get asked these and more questions on our social media profiles and through our Guest Care centre.
Unsure about something? Here are our most frequently asked questions and their answers.
What are Mango’s baggage limit?
Hand luggage regulations restrict economy class cabin carry-ons to a single piece with a maximum weight of 7kg and within specified dimensions (36cm x 23cm x 56cm), along with either a handbag or slimline laptop bag. Regulations require that all hand luggage exceeding the specifications will have to be checked in.
Checking in more than one bag? No problem. Mango is the only low-cost carrier that allows 20kg of check-in luggage per traveller without penalties on the number of bags that make up the total weight.
Can kids fly on their own?
Teenagers may travel unaccompanied from the age of 12. If accompanying another minor, the oldest must be 16 years old or older. Children between the ages of two to 11 years and infants must be accompanied by an individual 16 years or older.
Do I need a passport to check in?
To check in, you’ll need positive identification (state-issued documentation). This can be an identification card or book, a driver’s licence, passport or birth certificate.
If you’re flying internationally (from South Africa to Zanzibar or vice versa), you will need a valid passport.
My plans have changed. Can I cancel my flight?
Mango does not allow cancellations, but you are welcome to change the date of your booking or the name of the booking. You can update your booking here.
I’d like to work for Mango. Where do I go?
We’d love to have you on board! Please send your full CV with an accompanying cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are applying for a cabin crew positions, please also attach your cabin crew licence in the email.
If you are dreaming of joining the cabin crew but are not licensed, you’ll first need to reach out to a training academy before we can take you on board.
Do kids fly for free?
Children under the age of two travel on your lap and thus do not require their own seat. You do not need to book a seat for infants, but please let us know beforehand as you’ll need to register the child and pay a small fee. You can do this online.
My baggage was damaged. What happens now?
We’re so sorry that this happened. We work tirelessly with our third-party baggage handling providers, airports, police and other role-players to stamp out crime and rough handling, and keep Guests’ belongings safe.
