Travelling can be stressful. There’s the anticipation of the journey, the rush to get to the right places in time and, of course, keeping abreast of all the travel arrangements. Your flight doesn’t need to add to that worry. Here’s how to take to the skies stress-free:
Check in early
Leaving check-in to the last minute? This can mean added stress and may even result in a missed flight. Mango’s check-in counters at the airport close 40 minutes prior to departure to allow enough time for security checks and boarding. Unfortunately, if you don’t allow enough time and run into traffic on the way to the airport, you’ll need to make alternative travel arrangements if you miss your flight. We generally recommend that guests aim to arrive at the airport for check-in two hours before departure.
To save more time, you can also check in online or with our mobi-app, which opens 24 hours before departure. Not only will you be able to choose the best seats and skip queues, but you’ll also have much-needed peace of mind when embarking on your travels.
Know your baggage weight
Mango Airlines allows you one piece of carry-on luggage not exceeding 7kg in weight. This also needs to fit within the specified dimensions of 36cm x 23cm x 56cm. In addition to the one piece of carry-on luggage, you can bring on board either a handbag or a slimline laptop bag. Should your hand luggage exceed any of these specifications, it will have to be checked in.
When it comes to your check-in baggage, Mango is the only low-cost airline in South Africa that allows 20kg of check-in luggage per traveller without penalties on the number of bags that make up the total weight. This means you can check in multiple bags, as long as the cumulative weight does not exceed 20kg. If your total checked-in baggage weight exceeds 20kg, you will need to pay an excess baggage fee per extra kilogram.
If you know your check-in baggage will be overweight, you can update your booking online and only pay R35 per extra kilogram of luggage. If you do this at the airport, the cost will be R50 per kilogram.
Pack some entertainment and get comfy
The more comfortable you feel on the plane, the more your body will relax. Loosen your shoelaces to avoid discomfort from swollen ankles (particularly on longer flights), bring along a scarf or jersey in case it gets cold in the cabin, and recline your chair after take-off so that you can lean back and enjoy your flight.
If your mind is racing, read a book or magazine, watch a movie on your tablet or plug in your earphones to listen to your favourite music to distract yourself. Just sit back and relax and you’ll arrive at your destination in no time!
