Does my infant have a seat?

At Mango, we require an infant to be older than seven (7) days, in order to board the aircraft and be considered a Mango Guest.

Infants younger than seven (7) days will not be carried on-board Mango flights; a birth certificate must be presented at check-in.

An infant is allowed to sit on an adult’s lap on-board Mango aircraft, provided that they are (i) older than seven days and (ii) younger than 24 months (2 years).

Infant twins must be accompanied by two adults.

A maximum of two (2) infants per seat row are allowed – i.e. a row of six (6) seats. Only one infant per Guest is allowed.

Guests who are carrying infants and seated immediately behind a bulkhead, must use the infant restraint belt. An infant may also travel in the arms or on the lap of an adult Guest.

Parents may bring an approved child safety seat into the aircraft, similar to that used in a car. However, this seat will form part of your on-board baggage allowance. Please read car seat guidelines here.

Can I reserve a seat next to an emergency exit?

Yes you can reserve an emergency exit seat for R150.00 per seat.

When you reserve seats located in the emergency exit rows, the following criteria applies:

  • You must be in a position to perform the required duties without the assistance of a flight crew member, parent or other relative.
  • You must be willing to assist in the unlikely event of an emergency.
  • You must be able to read and understand instructions, and comply with crew instructions in the event of an emergency.

For safety reasons, Mango is entitled to allocate another seat before departure to passengers who do not satisfy these requirements.

Please also note that any carry-on baggage you have must be stowed in the overhead lockers because during take-off and landing no objects must be in the seating area or under the seats of an emergency exit row. To book your seat, click here.
